1. Wait Before You Brush After Eating
Acidic food and drink soften enamel for a while. Brushing straight away can wear it down faster, so wait about 30 minutes before you reach for your toothbrush.
2. Rinse After Acidic Drinks
Coffee, citrus juice and soda are all acidic. A quick rinse with water afterwards helps wash the acid away before it lingers on your teeth.
3. Brush Gently, With Fluoride
Hard bristles and excessive brushing pressure can contribute to tooth wear and gum irritation over time. A soft brush with gentle circles cleans just as well and is far kinder to your teeth.
Use a fluoride toothpaste, and after brushing spit rather than rinse. Fluoride helps repair the earliest signs of enamel damage.
4. Watch How Often You Snack
Frequent exposure to sugary or acidic foods and drinks repeatedly challenges the teeth throughout the day. Grazing all day keeps it under constant attack, so how often you snack matters more than how much.
Keep sweet treats to mealtimes, and drink water between meals.
5. Don't Skip Your Checkups
Regular visits let your dentist catch early enamel wear before it becomes a bigger problem. Professional cleanings also remove the buildup that daily brushing can't reach.
